From the bustle of Lisbon to the historic port caves or Porto and the quaint wineries of Alentejo and the Douro Valley, there is so much to discover in Portugal. This trip combines boutique hotels and private villas as we explore the two most popular wine regions and the culture that encompasses them. Discover new grapes, Fado music, art history, Michelin Star restaurants and a river cruise down the stunning Douro River. You will even have the opportunity to become a wine maker for a day, experiencing the whole process of blending your own wine, bottling, corking, labeling and of course tasting.
Travel with ease. From Michelin Star Restaurants and the historic architecture of Barcelona, to the slanted wine terraces of one of only two DOQ wine regions in Spain, Priorat. Here we will explore the small hilltop villages originally established by Carthusian monks and see first hand the rocky Llicorella soil made up of black slate and quartz in this untamed environment that give the wines of this region its structure. We will stay on working winery watching the sunset over the vineyards from our private terrace in the evening, and visit wineries in the day by bicycle and car to taste the famed Garnacha and Cariñena wines of this land. Let you trip end here, or choose to continue to Costa Brava for a seaside escape or to explore the Cava region – Spain's home of sparkling wine in the hills of Penedès just west of Barcelona for a deeper delve into the history and variety of wine making in the region.
Sip and Savor in South Africa
Take in the vibrant city of Cape Town, with all of its culture, creative restaurants and markets, then retreat to the wine lands of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek for stunning views and private wine tasting experiences. Drive the Garden Route, staying overnight in a private luxury villa owned by philanthropically-focussed Perivoli Trust which dedicates its efforts to conserve natural habitats and to improving the quality of education particularly of nursery school-aged children in sub-Sahara Africa.
